John Cena reportedly sees a lot in this WWE NXT Superstar.
Last night on WWE RAW, NXT Superstar Je’Von Evans participated in the Last Time Is Now Tournament, in a losing effort to Gunther. Evans was the only NXT performer in the tournament, and apparently, there’s a good reason for that: John Cena is very high on him.
On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez revealed that John Cena is “very, very high” on Je’Von Evans.
“I was also told that John Cena, he went down to developmental and everything,” Bryan Alvarez said. “And apparently, he is very, very high on Je’Von, and Sheamus had a match with him at our show, and Sheamus was raving about him. I think they finally figured out, as usual, they’re like the last people on earth to figure this shit out.
“But I think they finally figured out that they have something special in Je’Von Evans, and so hopefully he is called up sooner rather than later, and they do something with him. This bullshit about being too young is, in fact, bullshit, especially when you think about the history of Madison Square Garden and some of the biggest stars in the history of this business. They were big f*cking stars in their 20s. They weren’t 40 when they first got that title.” [H/T: WrestlingNews.co]
Will Je’Von Evans win gold tonight on WWE NXT?
Later this evening, Je’Von Evans will team with TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater to challenge DarkState for the NXT Tag Team Titles. If they are successful, this would be Evans’ first championship with the company.
