WWE NXT star Mason Rook recently found himself at the center of an online feud. Jim Cornette took several shots at the John Cena-endorsed newcomer after his latest NXT match sparked debate on social media.
Mason Rook made his WWE NXT debut earlier this year by attacking Tony D’Angelo. He also impressed fans with a top-rope moonsault. Soon after, John Cena publicly backed the rising star. Since then, Rook has continued making his mark in NXT.
Jim Cornette blasts John Cena-endorsed WWE NXT star
This week on WWE NXT, Mason Rook recent match on against Jackson Drake received mixed reactions online. Drake picked up the win with help from Vanity Project. Actor Paul Walter Hauser defended the match and praised the live crowd’s reaction on X, formerly known as Twitter.
He wrote, “Watch & listen to the crowd. The people who paid MONEY to watch this show are LOVING it. They do not care about the Twittersphere’s “Wiser Than Thou” disdain parade. Sorry it didn’t meet your Nick Bockwinkle requirements. They got over & had fun. Welcome to wrestling in 2026.”
Jim Cornette fired back with a harsh response. “It’s friends and family who got free tickets watching Chaz Bono endure oxygen deprivation, turdblossom. You couldn’t have parked Nick Bockwinkel’s car. Fuck off.”
Hauser replied that younger fans would likely remember stars like Mason Rook instead. “My children & their generation will never know or care who Nick Bockwinkle is or was. Doesn’t diminish his legacy/talent/what he gave. It’s just the truth, Jimmy. The coming generation will likely watch, & enjoy, Mason Rook & Jackson Drake. Boo. Hoo.”
Cornette then took another shot at Rook. “Rook won’t be around long enough for a housefly’s generation to enjoy. The problem is idiots in the business who are marks for show biz assholes who are marks for wrestling letting them play in our profession & making them believe they should have opinions. See Hauser, Dumbass.”
Mason Rook later joined the exchange with a sarcastic reply. “Thanks Jim, I’m so grateful all my friends and family from England were in attendance last night.” Cornette had one final response. “I didn’t mean YOUR SPECIFIC friends and family, you human waterbed, or there wouldn’t have been enough people in the crowd to count to 15 on their fingers.”
