Dominik Mysterio’s heel tactics once got him an earful from WWE management.
Speaking to Towers of Power in a new interview, the AAA Mega Champion was asked if he had ever pushed the envelope far enough to get in trouble with officials backstage.
Dominik recalled the one time he received an earful from management for spitting on Dragon Lee during a segment.
“I never think it’s far enough. But I have gotten — I don’t want to say in trouble — but I’m the type of guy to ask for forgiveness before permission,” Dom said. “There’s been a few times where I’ve gone to the back and I’m like, ‘Oh sh*t, sorry. I didn’t know.’ One of them was I spit on Dragon Lee.
“I got to the back, first thing, they were like, ‘We don’t spit on people.’ I was like, ‘I didn’t know.’ I was like, ‘I didn’t spit on him, ‘ I was like, ‘I spit my gum.’ And I was like, (it’s) two very different things. They were like, ‘Dom, we do not spit on people.’ I was like, ‘That’s my bad. I was like, (That’s) on me, I didn’t know.'” [H/T WrestlingInc]
Dominik Mysterio Reacts To Cody Rhodes Calling Him The Future Of WWE
During a recent appearance on ESPN First Take, Dominik Mysterio was asked for his thoughts on being seen as the future of WWE by his peers, including Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes.
“I feel like I’m just getting started, you know,” he said. “I started during the pandemic in 2020. The first half of my career, I had no fans. So now, leading into this, we get crowd reactions. For me, I live off that.
“And being able to — like you said — the future of WWE, and hearing Cody say that… Cody’s like that big brother who goes off to college. You don’t really see him all the time, but you get excited when he comes back to town. You want that stamp of approval from him. It’s really cool to hear that from him. It’s a blessing, man. I’m just fortunate to be able to do my thing.”
