Lash Legend reveals the origin of her WWE name.
Speaking to TheSporster’s Adam Barnard in a new interview, the real-life Anriel Howard cited her experience playing in arenas for the WNBA as the inspiration for her in-ring name.
“That’s where my ‘Lash’ name came from,” she said. “I lash out in every arena that I stepped foot in, and that’s the truth. So it actually gets me more turned up. The more the barrier, it just makes me more excited. Man, being in Indianapolis for the Royal Rumble, I was just like, ‘Whoa,’ that was a stadium. That was a stadium, not an arena. So I think it was like 70,000 (people), I’m like, ‘Oh, my gosh, this is the coolest thing ever.'”
Elsewhere in the interview, Lash Legend expressed appreciation for the opportunities afforded to her, including challenging for the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship alongside Jakara Jackson (aka Mara Sadè).
“I feel like I’m in a season where I’m very much so aware and trying to make sure I truly grasp in these moments because I feel like just in my past, I felt like I may not really taken in every moment. So I feel like now I’m so aware and I’m like, ‘Oh, yeah, I am appreciating every moment, every opportunity that I get because it means something.’ You’ll look back when you’re old and it’s just like, ‘Wow, I really got to do that,’ so I’m just taking it all in.”
Lash is scheduled to compete in the Women’s WarGames match this Saturday at WWE Survivor Series. She will join Nia Jax, The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane), and Becky Lynch against Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and AJ Lee.
