Kevin Nash recalled the time he passed a DUI test after drinking 18 beers.
Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash recalled one of his wild adventures while on the road as an active wrestler. He recalled the time a massive snowstorm dumped a lot of snow within a few hours after a WCW Nitro taping in Columbus, Ohio.
The airports were already talking about shutting down and WCW was arranging charter flights for the crew to get to the next town. Instead, Nash and a colleague decided to hop inside a car and drive roughly 500 miles through the blizzard overnight instead of getting on a plane.
They stopped at a White Castle on the way and got eight double cheeseburgers before stopping for a case of beer. Kevin Nash recalled driving down the middle of the interstate and drinking 18 beers in four hours. He got off the exit to head to a 24-hour truck stop/gas station, and seeing the parking lot covered in snow, Nash wanted to check how far the car could slide. He slammed the brakes, going around 35 mph, but failed to notice the state trooper tailing him.
Kevin Nash Detailed The Conversation With The State Trooper
“The guy comes up, and he goes, ‘What was that?’ I said, ‘Oh, I was just checking the skid ratio,’ explaining that he lived in Florida and wasn’t used to driving in snow.
“So, he says, ‘Have you had anything to drink?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I had a couple of beers at Applebee’s.’ He goes, ‘The answer’s either no or I had one. It’s never a couple.’ He goes, ‘That wins you a fuc*in blow into the breathalyzer,’ Kevin Nash said.
Already being disoriented after driving for four hours in the snow, Kevin Nash got out and blew into the breathalyzer. “I blow into it, and he goes, ‘Your buddy been drinking?’ I said, ‘No, he hasn’t been drinking at all.
“He says, ‘You’re 0.02, so you’re a quarter of the way intoxicated.’ So, he says, ‘I’d much rather have your buddy drive. You were driving down the middle of the road, and I couldn’t catch up to you.’
Kevin Nash finally weighed on the side of caution for the rest of the trip
Nash explained that he was doing 68 miles per hour, which was under the speed limit on that road. He also said there was no traffic on the road, so he was just trying to drive safely. He continued to explain that since his friend would be driving, Nash went into the gas station and bought himself another six-pack. Nash put it in the trunk while the state trooper watched, who was shaking his head. Nash didn’t want to risk any more trouble and knew the officer would likely call another one to keep an eye out for him behind the wheel. Sure enough, it did happen, although Nash was no longer driving.
Kevin Nash’s co-host Sean Oliver did some quick math and noted that Nash would’ve had to drink 72 beers to fail the test, since the legal limit in the US is 0.08. Nash’s 72 hypothetical beers are impressive enough, but pale in comparison to the numbers that Andre the Giant put up.
