The Rock Made A Cameo In TV Show Based On Hit Sandra Bullock Movie

Before becoming one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, The Rock made a cameo in The Net a TV series based on the 1995 Sandra Bullock thriller of the same name.

The TV adaptation starred Brooke Langton as Angela Bennett, the role Sandra Bullock played in the film. The series aired for one season on USA Network from July 1998 to March 1999 before it was cancelled. The Rock appeared in one episode of the TV show, playing a fighter named Brody. His scene centers on a tense negotiation involving a deadly underground fight against John Storm.

Brody asks Brooke Langton’s character about the undefeated fighter John Storm, wanting to challenge him. Storm’s handlers warn Brody that countless men have claimed to be tough enough but every one of them died.

Later, Brody shows up at Mel’s Gym looking for help. He learns that Mel is dead, but insists he was promised underground fight opportunities. As he waits, Storm’s crew studies him and questions if he truly understands what he is getting into.

Brody stays confident and calls himself “the most dangerous man on the planet,” but they remind him that many cocky fighters said the same thing before meeting their end. Outside, Brooke Langton’s character waits in the car, growing more and more worried as Brody takes too long inside the gym, sensing that something isn’t right.

The 1995 thriller The Net earned approximately $50.7 million domestically (USA/Canada) and around $59.9 million internationally, totaling about $110.6 million worldwide, against a $22 million budget, making it a moderate success, especially noted for its timely theme of identity theft and computers.
