Arn Anderson Explains the Difference Between Cody Rhodes in AEW and WWE

Arn Anderson has opened up about the biggest difference between Cody Rhodes’ run in AEW and his current role in WWE.

In an interview with Denise Salcedo, Anderson was asked to explain the biggest difference between Cody Rhodes in AEW and the version fans now see in WWE. He said, “He had full control of his destiny with AEW,” Anderson said. “WWE is very strict and regimented.”

Anderson explained that WWE’s corporate structure plays a major role in how talent is presented. With TKO Group Holdings now owning WWE, Anderson noted, “There’s a pecking order of people in charge with the new company TKO buying it. It’s become a mega company if that was possible, multi-billionaire company.”

He compared that to AEW’s environment, where communication is more direct. “I  just think that you’ve got a lot more hands on with AEW and the talent talking to Tony Khan than you do with WWE and I don’t know if that’ll ever change.” [H/T: Fightful]

During his time in AEW, Cody Rhodes teamed up with Arn Anderson and shared several memorable moments before leaving the company in 2022. After returning to WWE, Rhodes stepped into a much bigger role.

Fans now see him as the face of the company, often calling him “QB1,” and he currently holds the WWE Undisputed Championship. Rhodes is also locked in an intense rivalry with Drew McIntyre. The two are set to face each other for the title on the January 9 episode of WWE SmackDown in Germany in a brutal Three Stages of Hell match.

While Anderson highlighted the differences between AEW and WWE, his comments made one thing clear: Cody Rhodes has thrived in both environments.
