The Grinch is…Australian?
In mainstream lore, the vile, green Grinch ruins Christmas by stealing the gifts and decorations from residents in the town of Whoville. Within WWE, however, there’s a grinch character taking aim at championships.
In an attempt to “make a name for [himself],” Grayson Waller, a native of Sydney, Australia, snuck into a recent WWE event (footage via Instagram) with a cameraman, a suitcase, and a full Grinch costume consisting of green makeup, a black coat and hat, and a hairy mane. Once inside, Waller’s disturbingly good ensemble drew the attention of WWE veteran R-Truth, who called for the police to go after him. Waller managed to escape, then proceeded with his mission of stealing a championship or two.
His first target was Dominik Mysterio, who reigns as the WWE Intercontinental and AAA Mega Champions. Mysterio and Waller-Grinch initially bonded over their mutual disdain for 17-time world champion John Cena, with Mysterio even suggesting that Waller take the “raggedy ass shoes” that Cena left in the ring at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Still, Waller admitted that he was particularly keen on stealing a championship, which Mysterio agreed to let him do.
Touched by Mysterio’s gesture, Waller ultimately returned the Intercontinental Championship back to him and shifted his focus to other gold, namely Chelsea Green’s. Waller’s efforts to rob Green of her Women’s United States and AAA World Tag Team Championships also proved unsuccessful as she caught him green-handed.
“Disgusting, you’re on the naughty list,” Green proclaimed before walking off with her respective titles.
In between his attempted thefts, Waller-Grinch encountered a number of WWE talents, including Jimmy Uso, Bron Breakker, and “The Ring General” Gunther, the latter of whom seemingly scared him of just by looking at him. Breakker noted that he was a fan of Jim Carrey’s work in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, but according to Waller, Carrey is not the real Grinch.
