WWE’s Charlotte Flair Calls Freak Injury One Of The Best Things To Happen To Her

Charlotte Flair says a freak injury she sustained in 2023 was one of the best things to happen to her.

In an exclusive interview with ClutchPoints, 14-time WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair opened up about the injury she sustained during her match against Asuka on the December 8, 2023, episode of SmackDown. She suffered a torn ACL, MCL, and Meniscus after she slipped from the top turnbuckle and landed hard on the top rope.

Despite being “devastated” when the injuries occurred, Charlotte Flair noted that it was one of the best things that had happened to her.

Even if being injured isn’t ever a good thing, Flair called it, “‘One of the best things to happen to me.’ Why? ‘I had to reset, make a bunch of life choices, and I think I’m better off because of it, because I learned so much.'”

Charlotte Flair Was Worried If She’d Be Good Enough For The Fans

As a result of these life choices, Charlotte Flair believes her game has improved significantly since her return to in-ring competition in WWE. Flair also mentioned that she was initially worried about whether she would still be good enough for the fans, as the injury significantly affected her athletic ability.

“I think my game has improved in different ways since coming back. No one likes to be injured, but I definitely struggled mentally when I first got injured because everything gets taken away [from] you so fast.”

“I relied so much on my physical athletic ability, and to have that hindered was like, Am I ever gonna be good enough for the fans again? That just kept replaying in my head over and over.”

After over a year on the sidelines, Charlotte Flair returned to in-ring competition at the 2025 Royal Rumble and won the Women’s Royal Rumble match for the second time in her career. Her return didn’t go as expected, as fans turned on her, forcing her to turn heel. However, her alliance with Alexa Bliss helped turn things around, and the duo is having an entertaining run together as a tag team.
