Vince Russo has reacted to Matt Cardona’s WWE return a day after his JCW Lunacy Heavyweight Championship win aired.
Matt Cardona returned to WWE this past Friday on SmackDown as Kit Wilson’s surprise opponent. The commentators announced during the match that Cardona had signed with WWE and was an official member of the SmackDown roster. However, the return took place just a day after his big world championship victory in JCW. The show, taped on October 31, 2025, was aired on YouTube on January 1, 2026.
Former WCW and WWE head writer Vince Russo is currently an investor and a writer/producer for Juggalo Championship Wrestling, an independent promotion owned by Insane Clown Posse. He has now reacted to Cardona’s WWE return on X/Twitter, making it clear that there is no animosity between them.
“I haven’t said anything so I will now. I am 100% THRILLED for @TheMattCardona. I know this was Matt’s Goal, and the opportunity to be able to be on the road and travel with the lovely @ImChelseaGreen once again is a BEAUTIFUL THING! I LOVE both these guys—TRULY!!!
“I’m also glad that I got to meet Matt even if it was for only ONE NIGHT. Quite Frankly—that was one of MY GOALS!,” Vince Russo said.
Vince Russo Says It’s Time To Go Back To The Drawing Board
Vince Russo’s tweet also made it clear that Matt Cardona’s WWE return has forced JCW to rewrite most of their creative directions. Viewing it as a challenge, Russo looked back at the advice he got from Vince McMahon three decades ago.
“Now as a writer are there going to have to be rewrites? Of course there are, but there are ALWAYS RE-WRITES, and to a REAL Writer—that’s a Challenge that is ALWAYS Welcomed.
“Vince McMahon told me almost 30 years ago, “No One Talent is Bigger than the Company”, and he was 100% CORRECT. It takes a WHOLE ROSTER, and at @jcwlunacy I am literally IN LOVE with the Men and Women that I work with. Every one of them play a HUGE PART of the process and the success of @jcwlunacy !!! So–onward and upward!!! Now the question—WHO WILL STEP UP?!!!,” Vince Russo posted.
