The WWE RAW x Stranger Things crossover is officially in the history books, but fans believe it fell short in a significant way.
Apart from celebrating the first anniversary of the show’s Netflix debut, the January 5 episode of WWE RAW also featured a crossover with the recently concluded hit series Stranger Things. Netflix and WWE hyped up the episode with trailers and several social media posts using upside-down text.
The show opened with the screen turning upside down as Corey Graves and Michael Cole emerged from a WSQK van to welcome the fans. WWE also incorporated other Stranger Things aspects, including the Scoops Ahoy parlor, upside-down vines, Demogorgons appearing in graphics throughout the night, and chapter titles for segments and matches.
However, fans feel WWE and Netflix missed the mark with the crossover episode by not having any of the Stranger Things cast members appear on the show. While the company did not advertise any appearance from the cast members, fans still expressed their disappointment, saying the show would’ve been better if some of them had appeared.
Fan Reactions To The WWE RAW x Stranger Things Crossover
One fan took to Reddit to question what WWE accomplished with the crossover by not having any cast members appear on the show.
“I still don’t understand what the collab actually did? like there were decorations up and all but like… no actors from the show there? or at least I don’t remember them showing any of them in the crowd… unless I missed it. but I still don’t understand what they were trying to do with that whole thing tonight…”
Another fan echoed the same sentiment on Facebook, also adding that the promotion failed to put on an entertaining show.
“WWE Raw x Stranger Things Collab Major Disappointment. So basically the WWE x Stranger Things collab is just a Stranger Things inspired stage, some vines, Demogorgons back stage, and some graphics. It looks like not one cast member showed up, not even Derek! And to add to it, it’s just not a very good Monday Night Raw either. You figure they would have more eyes tonight, at least put on a good show.”
