The days of Matt Cardona being The Indy God are behind him, but that doesn’t mean he’s not appreciative of what that era brought him.
The WWE Universe got a shocking moment Friday night on SmackDown when Matt Cardona returned to the company as Kit Wilson’s mystery opponent. It was revealed during the course of the match that Cardona had signed with the company and was the latest member of the SmackDown roster.
On the latest episode of The Major Wrestling Figure Podcast, Cardona discussed his WWE return in-depth. During the episode, he revealed that when he signed his new WWE contract, he did it with the GCW World Championship lying in his lap.
“When I signed my WWE contract, I signed it with my GCW title on my lap,” Matt Cardona said. “If it wasn’t for GCW, I wouldn’t be the Indy God. If I wasn’t the Indy God, I wouldn’t be back in WWE. I firmly believe that. When I got fired, I looked at that picture of me and my dad at WrestleMania. And when I got rehired, I was holding that GCW Title. I’m very sentimental about that.” [H/T: WrestlingNews.co]
