Mick Foley understood that departing WWE over its association with Donald Trump would divide his fanbase.
Last month, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley announced on his social media platforms that he was parting ways with the company over their association with Donald Trump. Foley revealed that he would no longer be making appearances for the company and would not renew his Legends deal when it expires in 2026.
Obviously, Foley’s comments divided the fans in the WWE Universe over his choice, and now the Hardcore Legend is talking about the reaction he’s seen from his fanbase in recent weeks.
Mick Foley recently spoke with Orlando Weekly about bringing his one-man show to the city later this evening. When asked about his decision to depart the company over Trump, Foley admitted that the decision has cost him some fans. However, he made it clear that he stays away from politics during his comedy show.
“People know that I’m not on board with a lot of things the current administration is doing,” Mick Foley said. “I have fans who feel different, and still like and support me. And I have [fans] who dropped out of the fandom, which is obviously their right. People know I’m outspoken. But the closest I get to making a political statement in the show is saying that kindness is cool.”
