Tony Khan believes AEW pay-per-views feature the right amount of matches, despite the criticisms regarding their length.
Speaking on The Mark Hoke Show Pro Wrestling Radio / Podcast, AEW President Tony Khan addressed the claims that his company’s pay-per-views are too long, featuring about 13 matches. He mentioned that he has never included that many matches in a PPV, stating that the free pre-show contests do not count.
“I think that we have so many great things happening on Dynamite and Collision. We don’t put that many matches on a pay-per-view,” Tony Khan continued. “I’ve never put 13 matches in a pay-per-view ever. I’m not sure where people get that. That’s never happened.
When the host pointed out that the count included the pre-show matches, Tony Khan said, “Including the free pre-shows? That’s not part of the pay-per-view. And I think that people thought that World’s End, the nine-match pay-per-view, was one of the best-paced and delivered some of the best action, and people loved the pacing of World’s End.”
Speaking further, Tony Khan noted that the PPV events do a great deal of good for the presentation of AEW. He exclaimed that All Elite Wrestling is where the best wrestle, and that he loves using such big events to showcase those stars.
“Other events, like AEW All In: Texas, which was an epic show, they bring great, great things to the presentation of AEW, and I do think that it really behooves us to give the fans the best action. AEW is where the best wrestle, and I love showing off those great stars,” Tony Khan said.
