Bayley: WWE’s Women’s Division Has Not Hit The Ceiling At All

Bayley doesn’t believe WWE’s women’s division has even peaked yet.

During an appearance on What’s Your Story? with Stephanie McMahon, Bayley reflected on the current state of women’s wrestling and the importance of not becoming discouraged, even when momentum stalls.

McMahon noted that a line from a WWE commentator recently made her feel like the women’s division still hasn’t hit its ceiling. Bayley agreed, noting that it’s almost like they are spoiled with the embarrassment of riches they have today.

“I don’t think we’ve hit the ceiling at all,” Bayley said. “Before, it was about having the first this or the first that. Now we’ve done that. The focus has to be on not getting discouraged when things aren’t happening. Bayley pointed to veterans like Natalya, Naomi, AJ Lee and more who have experienced highs and lows but never stopped pushing for growth.

She added, “We’re kind of spoiled now. Years ago, they were fighting AJ being back, Nikki being back they were fighting for 30 seconds. They were fighting for stories. But they never stopped their characters. They never stopped trying.”

“And I think we’re at a point now where we’re kind of spoiled, you know? We’re just like, “Man, I want to do this, I want to do this.” But it’s like, no. The second we become jaded and the second that we become spoiled and think that we deserve something this doesn’t owe us anything.”

Bayley emphasized that this mindset is something she actively addresses, including through the wrestling seminar she recently hosted. “I have to live what I’m saying and lead by example,” she said.
