Rey Mysterio reportedly suffered a real injury during his match on this week’s WWE RAW.
Mysterio faced Austin Theory on WWE RAW as the rivalry between The Vision and the RAW luchadors continued. The match became official after Adam Pearce reinstated Bron Breakker and apologized for putting his hands on him. Pearce also announced that all members of The Vision are part of Men’s Royal Rumble match.
Before the match, Pearce told Austin Theory that he could have beaten Rey Mysterio last week if not for the brass knuckles. He said Theory deserved redemption and would get it next. Rey Mysterio, Dragon Lee, and Penta then made their way to the ring, but the night ended on an unfortunate note for the WWE Hall of Famer.
They delivered a hard-fought match, but Theory won after hitting his Stomp. After the bell, The Vision interfered and attacked Mysterio, Penta, and Dragon Lee. Fans grew concerned when Mysterio appeared to be genuinely hurt during the match.
Cory Hays of Bodyslam reported on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Mysterio suffered a legitimate injury and received medical help backstage. WWE officials escorted him to the back after the match. So far, there is no update on how serious the injury is or when it happened.
Notably, WWE kept Mysterio mostly out of the post-match attack. Penta absorbed two spears from Bron Breakker and later took a Tsunami from Reed, while Mysterio stayed on the sidelines. Mysterio is currently scheduled to compete in the Men’s Royal Rumble match at the WWE Royal Rumble this Saturday.
It remains unclear if the injury will affect his availability, especially with WWE preparing to travel to Saudi Arabia later this week.
