WWE star AJ Lee has opened up about her real feelings toward Becky Lynch.
The former WWE Divas Champion offered praise to her on screen rival after their intense on-screen feud following Lee’s surprise return to WWE last year. She returned to WWE after more than ten years away, and Becky Lynch was the first superstar she confronted.
AJ Lee comeback following weeks of on-screen insults and slaps aimed at her husband, CM Punk, with Lynch and Seth Rollins taking repeated verbal shots at him. This quickly turned into a huge rivalry between the real life couples.
The storyline led to a mixed tag team match at WWE WrestlePalooza, where Punk and Lee faced Rollins and Lynch. Lee helped her team win by making Lynch tap out with her Black Widow submission.
She later added to Lynch’s troubles by costing her the WWE Intercontinental Championship in a match against Maxxine Dupri. She continued to get the upper hand at Survivor Series, where she once again forced Lynch to submit during the women’s WarGames match.
Recently, Lee and Punk appeared on Hot Ones Versus. During the show, Lee was asked to name her Mount Rushmore of women’s wrestling. She chose Chyna, Lita, Beth Phoenix, Mickie James, herself, and Bayley.
She also praised several current stars, including Lyra Valkyria, Roxanne Perez, Rhea Ripley, Jade Cargill, and Becky Lynch. Lee made it clear that she genuinely likes Lynch, “I love Becky, don’t you dare. Who she’s married to is not a reflection of who she is.”
Meanwhile, CM Punk responded with his own blunt take, referencing a recent clip involving Lynch and Rollins. “I mean it kind of is. I did see the clip of Becky and Seth, Becky pulled a card and said say something nice about CM Punk or eat a wing, and that little bitch just ate a wing.” [H/T: Wrestletalk]
