WWE NXT Names New Interim GM After Ava’s Shocking Departure

Shawn Michaels found Ava’s (interim) replacement on WWE NXT.

NXT was without a General Manager after Ava announced her surprising departure from WWE last week. Ava (Simone Johnson) took to Instagram to share that she was no longer with WWE, as she chose to not renew her contract.

“This past Tuesday was my last appearance on NXT & subsequently WWE,” Johnson wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to all who have cheered, watched, and supported me through my journey. While my decision to not renew my contract was very difficult, it’s also [a] new turning point in my life. It has been an honor & a privilege to be Ava.”

WWE NXT found its GM

Many fans wondered who would take over Ava’s role, and Shawn Michaels quickly answered that question on Tuesday’s episode of NXT. During a backstage segment, Shawn Michaels announced that Robert Stone was the new interim WWE NXT General Manager.

“You wanted to see me?” Stone said reluctantly.

“Yes, I did. Stone, over the past seven years, you have always done everything we have ever asked of you here in NXT,” Shawn Michaels said.

Stone said it’s been his pleasure, because he loves NXT. Michaels knows that, and it’s why he’s giving him a “promotion.”

“That’s why I want to take this opportunity to make you the new interim General Manager of NXT,” Michaels said. “Look, I know this place can be crazy. Between you and me, it’s kind of the way I like it. Alright?”

Michaels sealed it with a handshake, and Stone said he will not let him down.

Robert Stone is the fifth General Manager in WWE NXT history. He follows Dusty Rhodes, John “Bradshaw” Layfield, William Regal and Ava, who served as GM for two years.
