CM Punk Puts NFL Legend Rob Gronkowski In Signature WWE Move

CM Punk brought a mix of humor and hype to Super Bowl week with a memorable appearance on FanDuel TV. The WWE star also took the opportunity to turn a casual interview into a hands-on wrestling demonstration.

The segment aired from San Francisco during Super Bowl LX week as Punk promoted his WrestleMania 42 main event.

While appearing on Up & Adams, Punk joined host Kay Adams alongside former NFL star Rob Gronkowski.

The lighthearted moment came as Punk discussed his upcoming title defense and reflected on his career, including his history with Seth Rollins and being featured on the cover of WWE 2K26.

The tone shifted late in the interview when Adams asked CM Punk about his signature submission, the Anaconda Vice. That question led to an on-set demonstration, with Gronkowski volunteering as the test subject.

The WWE World Heavyweight Champion didn’t apply the hold himself. Instead, he playfully coached Adams step by step, explaining how to position her arms and secure the grip around Gronkowski’s neck and wrist.

Adams followed Punk’s instructions while Gronkowski leaned into the bit, reacting dramatically as the pressure increased and joked about his head turning red. Adams later acknowledged the moment on social media, posting on X that Punk had taught her how to apply the Anaconda Vice — “someone being Gronk.”

The segment also served as a promotion for Punk’s WrestleMania 42 main event against Roman Reigns.

Punk framed the matchup as psychological rather than emotional, noting that he thrives on getting under his opponent’s skin. He added that he doesn’t hate the Royal Rumble winner and instead views the rivalry as a mental chess match.

Punk also touched on WrestleMania’s two-night format. He compared it to a multi-day festival and labelled it as a better approach for showcasing the depth of WWE’s roster.

As WrestleMania 42 approaches, Punk continues to balance mind games with moments like this — keeping attention on the match while showing a lighter side outside the ring.
