CM Punk has taken his rivalry with Roman Reigns another step forward, despite a clear warning delivered on WWE RAW just days earlier.
The exchange adds another layer of personal tension as the two prepare to headline WrestleMania 42.
On the February 2nd episode of WWE Raw, Roman Reigns confronted CM Punk during a heated in-ring promo after announcing Punk as his WrestleMania opponent.
During the exchange, Reigns issued a pointed warning: “I’d watch how you talk about my family. Remember this, we’re the only reason this place is where it’s at. We’re the only reason that you had a show and a company to come back to.”

Despite that warning, Punk later escalated the situation during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
While discussing the build to the WrestleMania match, Punk said he had successfully gotten under the Royal Rumble winner’s skin. Moreover, framed the rivalry as psychological. “I got him exactly where I want him. He picked me; I got under his skin. He’s emotional,” Punk said before adding, “We all know those emotional Samoans, they can’t control themselves.”
The remark immediately stood out, given Reigns’ earlier comments on RAW had further blurred the line between mind games and personal territory.
The WWE World Heavyweight Champion maintained that he doesn’t hate Reigns. Instead, he aims to provoke a strong reaction to gain an edge.
He described the matchup as a “dick-measuring contest” between the two biggest names in the industry, concluding that emotion could decide the outcome.
Roman Reigns chose CM Punk as his opponent after winning the 2026 Royal Rumble, confirming their World Heavyweight Championship match will headline night two of WrestleMania 42.
With family now explicitly referenced and emotions rising, the feud continues to sharpen ahead of WWE’s biggest stage, keeping the focus squarely on tension and personal stakes rather than simple competition.
