TNA iMPACT Results
Trey Miguel vs. Adam Brooks
- The finish of the match saw Trey Miguel hit the Lightning Spiral on Adam Brooks for the win.
Winner: Trey Miguel
After the match, Miguel is blindsided by an attack from TNA International Champion Stacks. Arianna Grace stands up from the commentary desk to confront her fiancé. There is a clear disconnect between the couple as the show moves on to the next segment.
Grade: B+
Is it just me, or does Adam Brooks look like a shorter Alex Hammerstone? Jokes aside, Brooks got in plenty of offense against Trey Miguel in what was meant to be a showcase match. Arianna Grace was solid on commentary. The post-match attack by Stacks suggests that an International Championship match could take place as soon as TNA No Surrender.
Indi Hartwell knows Chinese
Gia Miller is backstage with Indi Hartwell and the Angel Warriors. TNA Knockouts World Champion Lei Ying Lee cuts a promo in Chinese, but Xia Brookside’s translation is cut short when Indi surprises everyone by translating the message herself. The group welcomes Ash back to the ring while sounding confident about their chances of victory. Xia then says they are not coming after just Ash, but the entire Elegance Brand.
The Righteous has a message for The Hardys
Vincent and Dutch squash local jobbers. After the match, Vincent grabs the mic and delivers another cryptic promo. He once again claims that The Righteous do not want to confront The Hardys, but instead want to team with Matt and Jeff. Vincent mentions Jeff Hardy’s alter ego, “Brother Nero,” before ending the promo with his catchphrase.
The Hardy Boys respond to The Righteous
Matt and Jeff react to The Righteous’ cryptic promo. Matt questions Vincent and Dutch’s intentions, saying The Hardys are past The Righteous after retaining the TNA World Tag Team Championship at Genesis. Jeff says he kind of digs what The Righteous are saying, but something doesn’t add up. He is taken out by Bear Bronson before The System ambush Matt Hardy to end the segment.
A new alliance is teased on TNA iMPACT
A video plays showing Frankie Kazarian shaking hands with TNA Director of Operations Daria Rae. Kazarian’s music hits as commentary wonders what he’s doing out here, as the scheduled match is a mixed tag team bout featuring Elijah, Jada Stone, Mustafa Ali, and Tasha Steelz.
Kaz calls Mike Santana a warrior but says he cannot stomach Santana as TNA World Champion. He reveals that he wrestled on the TNA iMPACT AMC debut with a surgically repaired hand, only for Santino to book him in a Texas Death Match at TNA Genesis, where Santana “defeated a one-armed man.” Kazarian proclaims he will be World Champion again thanks to Daria Rae, who agrees that he has not been treated like a star and that things must change.
As Kaz works the crowd and threatens to beat them with only one hand, Elijah’s music hits for the upcoming mixed tag team match.
Elijah & Jada Stone vs. Mustafa Ali & Tasha Steelz
- The finish of the match saw Mustafa Ali spike Jada Stone with a piledriver before placing Tasha Steelz’s hand on her for the winning pinfall.
Winners: Mustafa Ali & Tasha Steelz
Grade: A-
A star-making performance by Jada Stone. Props to Mustafa Ali for selling her offense so well, especially as she faced Order 4 alone during the closing stretch. The crowd was fully behind Jada. Unfortunately, she didn’t get the win, but her performance made her stand out.
Arianna Grace and Santino Marella backstage segment
Arianna Grace runs into Santino Marella backstage. Grace tells her father that she had a fight with Stacks. She says NXT has not been giving her opportunities and that she feels stuck in the middle, unsure if she will ever be half as good as the wrestler her father was.
Marella uplifts his daughter, telling her that she is going to be an even bigger superstar. Arianna suggests that he book her in a title match so she can find out if she really can win the big one. Marella says that would not look fair, but Arianna argues that it would make up for him missing her 16th birthday due to a live tour in Australia.
Santino agrees, and the two share a hug.
TNA No Surrender Card
Daria Rae gives an update on the TNA No Surrender card. The special event takes place on February 14. Here’s the card at the time of this writing:
- Stacks (c) vs. Trey Miguel – TNA International Championship
- The Hardys & The Righteous vs. The System
- Mike Santana & Leon Slater vs. Nic Nemeth & Eddie Edwards
Santino Marella approaches Daria and informs her of a new match that’s just been added: TNA Knockouts World Champion Lei Ying Lee vs. Arianna Grace. Daria is livid but asks Santino what Steve Maclin is doing there just a week after he was fired from the company. Marella says he’s present to give his final goodbye. Daria says she is going to speak with the board.
We hear from Steve Maclin
Steve Maclin gives his flowers to the TNA locker room. He gets emotional and thanks TNA for shaping his career and his International Championship runs. Maclin congratulates the company on their AMC debut and says he’s leaving TNA better than he found it.
As Maclin prepares to leave, he is met by TNA World Champion Mike Santana. Mike says Maclin was his first opponent when he returned to TNA and thanks him for being selfless. The two hug, and Santana turns to leave — only for Maclin to attack him with a cheap shot. Maclin yells that his problem is he’s always been selfless as security arrives to separate them.
Tessa Blanchard vs. Rachel Ley
- The finish of the match saw Blanchard plant Rachel with the Buzz Saw for the win.
It’s a showcase match for Tessa Blanchard, marking her AMC in-ring debut. TNA has been cautious with her booking due to her controversial past, taking things one step at a time — especially now with TNA iMPACT airing on AMC. Blanchard will likely have another shot at the Knockouts World Title eventually, but that doesn’t appear to be the direction in the near future.
Mara Sade and Ryan Nemeth vignette
TNA recreated Mr. Perfect’s iconic “Perfect Pass” promo with Mara Sade and Ryan Nemeth.
Eric Young confronts BDE
BDE is on his phone when he is confronted by Eric Young. He tells Young that he respects his accomplishments but wants nothing to do with the so-called cleanse. Young gets angry and grabs BDE by the throat, telling him to make a choice by next week.
Indi Hartwell & Angel Warriors vs. The Elegance Brand
- The finish of the match saw Xia Brookside catch Heather By Elegance off guard with a pinfall for the win.
Grade: C+
There was too much happening in this match. Constant distractions from Mr. Elegance and the Personal Concierge took focus away from the in-ring action. That said, welcome back Ash By Elegance after a four-month hiatus from competition. The details of her temporary retirement are still being kept close to the chest. Hopefully, more will be revealed when the time is right.
Next week on TNA iMPACT
- Nic Nemeth vs. Rich Swann
- Mara Sade vs. Ryan Nemeth – Albuquerque Street Fight
It’s time for the main event
Mike Santana heads to the ring, visibly pissed after the surprise attack by Steve Maclin. Santana tells production to cut his music. He says he didn’t expect the TNA World Title to turn one of his close friends into one of his worst enemies. Mike warns Maclin that next time he should go for his chest instead of attacking him from behind like a “little b*tch.”
The System ambushes Santana in the ring. Mike is cornered as Eddie Edwards grabs the title belt for a shot. Matt and Jeff arrive to clear the ring but quickly find themselves outnumbered.
But wait — Moose is back. The big man becomes a one-man wrecking crew against The System, powerbombing one of their own to clear the ring. The segment ends with Moose standing tall alongside The Hardys and Mike Santana as The System looks on from the ramp.
Overall Grade: B-
Another TNA iMPACT episode is behind us as we get closer to No Surrender. Tonight’s show was promo-heavy with limited in-ring action. The mixed tag team match earns this writer’s vote for match of the night. Everything Mustafa Ali touches seems to turn into a certified banger. The Steve Maclin heel turn genuinely caught this writer off guard — points to TNA for that.
Being a champion means having multiple challengers for your title, and that’s what makes the championship important and relevant. Hopefully, TNA can learn from past mistakes and use Mike Santana’s title run to establish him while building new stars in the process.
