MJF probably shouldn’t have posted that tweet about Brody King.
Brody King is currently involved in a feud with MJF over the AEW World Championship. King became the number one contender after squashing Maxwell Jacob Friedman in an eliminator match on a recent episode of AEW Dynamite.
Ahead of their title match at AEW Grand Slam: Australia, a fan resurfaced an eight-year-old tweet and brought it to King’s attention.
In the tweet, Friedman mocked King, writing that he “chops like a schoolgirl.”
“I want to say this while I’m in the same town as him Cuz I’m a grown man and I need to make something real clear. @Brodyxking chops like a schoolgirl. I am now boarding my flight.”
Taking to X, Brody King thanked the fan for digging up the old tweet before issuing a subtle but ominous warning to the AEW World Champion.
“Really glad someone brought this to my attention. See you Saturday @The_MJF,” Brody posted.
Why didn’t Brody King appear on AEW Dynamite this week?
Despite AEW heavily promoting the upcoming world title match at Grand Slam, neither MJF nor Brody King appeared live on Dynamite this week.
According to a report, King’s absence was allegedly related to anti-ICE chants that broke out minutes before his AEW World Championship eliminator match against MJF on last week’s Dynamite. F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer claimed that Warner Bros. Discovery decided to pull King from the show, not Tony Khan or AEW.
However, both AEW and WBD sources have since denied the report, with WBD calling any speculation about its involvement in King’s status “categorically false.”
