MJF Reveals Rare Footage From His Childhood ‘Sprawl God’ Days

MJF is giving fans a rare glimpse into his childhood wrestling days.

On X, the AEW World Champion reacted to a fan account that reposted an old clip of him competing in an amateur wrestling tournament during his youth.

After revealing that he “won the tournament that day” and calling himself the “sprawl god,” Friedman shared a video of himself executing a takedown on his opponent.

One user in the comments joked about MJF competing without headgear, while another praised him for not hitting the other kid with the Dynamite Diamond Ring.

MJF injured during AEW Dynamite match

MJF defended the AEW World Championship in the opening match of the June 3 episode of Dynamite. Friedman faced former multi-time ROH World Champion RUSH in a No Count Out match.

The action became so physical that AEW medical staff entered the ring and determined that neither competitor was medically fit to continue. In a shocking twist, RUSH refused to accept the decision and headbutted the ringside physician, preventing an immediate stoppage.

After enduring the punishment and capitalizing on RUSH’s deteriorating condition, MJF ultimately retained the AEW World Championship via referee stoppage. However, the victory came at a cost, as Friedman reportedly suffered a knee injury during the match against El Toro Blanco.

The injury forced him to withdraw from a scheduled independent wrestling appearance against Bobby Orlando at Beyond Wrestling’s June 5 event in Cranston, Rhode Island.

At the time of writing, Friedman is not advertised for this week’s Summer Blockbuster episode of AEW Dynamite.
