MLW Provides Major Update on Baron Corbin’s Contract Amid WWE Return Rumors

Baron Corbin’s rumored WWE return has taken another interesting turn after Major League Wrestling (MLW) owner Court Bauer shared an update on the company’s contract talks with the former WWE star, now known as Bishop Dyer. With rumors of a WWE comeback continuing to grow, Bauer admitted that negotiations have hit a rough patch. This puts the future of the reigning MLW World Tag Team Champion in question.

Speaking on In The Weeds via Fightful Overbooked, Bauer openly discussed the situation. He admitted talks are still ongoing, but no agreement has been reached yet.

Court Bauer says Bishop Dyer talks have stalled

Bauer said MLW is still in discussions with Bishop Dyer but admitted things have become more difficult recently.

“I want to be transparent with our audience and our fans. We got to a certain point where it’s not looking great, and we’re at an impasse. Obviously, there are rumors about Bishop, his future, and where he’s going next, and possibly theoretically. And you know, I just wanted to be transparent with our audience like this may get done, this may not get done. And I wanted everyone to be aware of it,” Bauer said.

Even so, Bauer said he is hopeful both sides can still work something out.

“If I have the opportunity to disclose what’s going on, I would like to, and do it in a way where the audience has context. I’m confident we can try to get something done; it just has to make sense for both parties. He’s been an amazing talent and great team player, a great world tag team champion for us, and a guy that really likes his southern uh barbecue food. So, we have a lot we bond over. But you know, there’s one thing we just right now we’re not on the same page,” Bauer said.

The MLW owner also mentioned that he would like to see Dyer in MLW. However, he wishes him success wherever he goes. Bauer also revealed that he might make an announcement on this week’s Fusion.

“I want him to always have success wherever he goes. And you always want to part ways amicably, but at the same time, my goal is for you to see him in MLW again and in in the immediate future. But I will say this, this week on Fusion, I’m going to have to make a tough call. And I’m going to make a decision. I’m going to make Bishop Dyer aware of that. I’m going to make Donovan Dijak aware of that and MLW Nation aware of that. So at some point, you just have to kind of move on or you resolve this,” Bauer added.

MLW had already sown the seeds for the issue during last weekend’s Fusion, telling fans that Dyer was dealing with a “contract dispute” with the company. The situation has become pertinent because Dyer currently holds the MLW World Tag Team Championship with Donovan Dijak as part of The Skyscrapers.

If the two sides can’t reach an agreement, MLW may have to make changes to its tag team title picture, especially if one half of the champions leaves.
