Tension is rising on SmackDown, and Drew McIntyre may have a new problem on his hands. While the Undisputed WWE Champion declared war last week, another threat stepped into the spotlight — and made it clear the target isn’t brand supremacy, it’s the top spot.
During the February 6 episode of SmackDown, McIntyre addressed recent comments from CM Punk and Roman Reigns, framing them as a “declaration of war.” Before the dust could settle, Trick Williams interrupted and shifted the focus. The message was simple — the future isn’t waiting in line.
Speaking on 107.7 The Bone, Williams elaborated on that confrontation and didn’t mince words.
Trick Williams Highlights Alpha Male Clash With Drew McIntyre in the Future
Williams made it clear his issue isn’t personal — it’s positional.
“First thing first… Drew is absolutely right. We want to be the top brand, the top show in the world, point blank period,” Williams said. He acknowledged the competition with Raw and beyond, but quickly pivoted to the champion himself.
“As far as Drew, it’s nothing personal. He’s just the guy that is in the top spot. I’ve got nothing but love and respect for Drew… you want to see a grown man, an alpha man… he looks like the Scottish Warrior that he is.”
Respect, however, doesn’t mean retreat. Williams framed a potential showdown as a clash of equals. “I want two alpha males — lions, tigers and bears, oh my. Drew, I’m coming for your spot. Let’s talk.”
Since arriving on the main roster as a self-proclaimed free agent who chose SmackDown, Williams has built steady momentum with wins over Rey Fenix and Matt Cardona. Though he fell short in a fatal four-way at Saturday Night’s Main Event on Jan. 24, his WrestleMania ambitions haven’t cooled.
McIntyre may be focused on inter-brand battles, but Williams is focused on the throne. And on SmackDown, there’s only room for one king of the jungle.
