Cody Rhodes is bringing back one of his popular WWE gimmicks for his new podcast episode.
WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio is all set to join Cody Rhodes this week on his What Do You Wanna Talk About podcast. Rhodes took to X/Twitter to make the announcement, and he caught the fans’ attention by wearing the protective face mask from his popular “Disfigured” gimmick.
“It’s only fitting that we both wore our masks,” he wrote.
He introduced the gimmick in 2011 after portraying his “Dashing Cody Rhodes” persona. It was a result of a legitimate broken nose he sustained during a match against Rey Mysterio, in which the latter’s exposed knee brace struck his face. Rhodes declared he was no longer dashing after the incident and wore the protective, clear face shield upon his return, and even started using it as a weapon.
The two superstars got into a heated rivalry. After losing to him at WrestleMania 27, Rey Mysterio got the better of Cody Rhodes on an episode of SmackDown and at the 2011 Extreme Rules event.
The former rivals will sit down for a conversation this week, and it will be interesting to hear what they want to talk about.

Speaking to The Undertaker and Michelle McCool on the Six Feet Under podcast, Cody Rhodes opened up about the time he was dating former WWE Divas Champion Layla. McCool and Layla famously carried half a piece of the broken title belt, calling themselves co-champions. The former had credited Dave Bautista for coming up with the idea.
Cody Rhodes revealed that he’s the one who usually carries around half of the title belt when Layla forgets it, and that he even had issues with TSA agents as a result.
“Because at the time I was dating Layla. But speaking of titles, so you guys saw the belt in half, correct?” said Cody Rhodes. “Okay. So I often brought the belt to TV because someone would forget the belt. I often brought it… I would have it in my bag. And one title going through TSA is something where it’s a big chunk of metal. Another one that looks like a hatchet.”
“It’s a whole conversation. And then when they take it out and it’s the Women’s World Championships, well, they split it because there’s two of them,” Cody Rhodes said. “Well, what are you doing with it? I don’t know. And you get to the point where you’re like, ‘I collect these. I collect these, right?’ Like the guys who come to the show and they have all the… I collect these.”
