The Iron Claw is a real tearjerker, but it might only make one sex cry.
The film, which chronicles the story of the Von Erich wrestling family, is now streaming on Netflix. The streamer shared a clip featuring an emotional scene where Kevin Von Erich (played by Zac Efron) is seen crying in his front yard while he watches his children play.
“Zac Efron ripped my heart out in this scene,” Netflix wrote on Twitter/X. “The Iron Claw is now on Netflix.”
That’s not the only emotional scene, as the family’s story is a rather tragic one. Many of the responses to the post featured men reflecting on the emotional gut-punch that one line in this particular scene delivered.
“That ‘I used to be a brother’ line is devastating every single time you watch it,” one fan wrote on Twitter/X. “Was not expecting this movie to be this sad,” wrote another.
Time to cry in the dark again
Others focused on the fact that it was guaranteed to make you cry. This included one fan who said their theatre was full of men crying (and only the men).
“Now it’s on Netflix… time for round two of crying in the dark. Who’s watching it again with me?” said @Andrew35487355.
“Watched this at the theatre with my partner and I was crying at the end and she wasn’t,” Jestermaxxing wrote on Twitter/X. “Then we noticed there were several other couples in our row and it was just the men crying lol”
AEW World Champion MJF was a producer on the film and he had a small role that eventually got cut. When asked about having his role as Lance Von Erich get cut, MJF told Chris Van Vliet that it didn’t actually bother him in the end. MJF also explained what his scene entailed (if it made it into the final cut).
