Paul Heyman has an idea of what retirement will look like—if you want to call it a true retirement.
Heyman has been in the pro wrestling business for nearly 50 years. He started as a ringside photographer and has since been an owner, writer, manager, advocate and Oracle, to name a few of his many roles.
During a recent interview with Alistair McGeorge for Metro UK, Heyman spoke about his retirement plans. The WWE Hall of Famer claimed his “retirement” would be more of a semi-retirement that involves traveling the world.
“Probably long after I’m – well, I don’t think I’ll ever retire. But I’ll be semi-retired by then, and be jetting in from Costa Rica, or some villa off the coast of Italy,” Heyman said. “And as I’m jetting in for these major events, the main event of WrestleMania will be prepped for, that main eventer will have been taught how to be a WrestleMania main eventer, will have been enticed to continue on his path of being a Paul Heyman guy to the main event of WrestleMania.”

Heyman could also see semi-retirement having him “writing, producing, directing a couple of movies a year.” He even teased starting his own podcast. Heyman also clarified that semi-retirement just means from WWE, not work altogether.
“But I mean, we’re talking at least 15 years from now,” Heyman added. “I’m just getting started at this, b*tches, I’m just understanding the magnitude of the greatness that I put forward. So for me to even contemplate slowing down is unfathomable at the moment, but at some time, I may just want to enjoy one day off per year.”
Paul Heyman recently said he’s been trying to plan for WrestleMania 43 for Saudi Arabia for months. The WWE Hall of Fame noted how Las Vegas (WrestleMania 42) will inform 43. Each event also needs to be bigger than the rest, which is why planning ahead is paramount.
