3 Ways Cody Rhodes Could Lose WWE Elimination Chamber Match 2026

Cody Rhodes is heading into the Men’s Elimination Chamber match at WWE Elimination Chamber 2026 as one of the favorites.

After being knocked out of the Royal Rumble 2026 title picture and nearly losing his WrestleMania chance, he fought his way back into the mix by winning a chance at the Chamber.

But the Elimination Chamber is unpredictable. Anything can happen inside that structure, and sometimes outside of it. Even though Rhodes has experience with headlining PLEs, a few massive threats could ruin his comeback.

How Cody Rhodes Could Fall Short At Elimination Chamber 2026

1) Sami Zayn Turns on Him

Sami Zayn is one of WWE’s most emotional and unpredictable stars. He has been closely associated with different WWE title competitions for a while now.

Recently on WWE SmackDown, he confronted Rhodes backstage for seemingly taking advantage of Drew McIntyre’s interference during the Chamber qualifier, where Rhodes pinned Zayn to win the match. Rhodes even told Zayn that he hasn’t won any WWE Undisputed titles yet because he hadn’t taken advantage of such opportunities.

Although Zayn apologized later, WrestleMania season changes things. Opportunities at the top don’t come often. Anger and jealousy could creep in, and Zayn might choose ambition over loyalty.

One unexpected interference at the right moment could eliminate Rhodes and shock everyone. A betrayal like that would not only cost Rhodes the match but likely start a personal feud heading into WrestleMania.

2) Drew McIntyre Gets Involved

Drew McIntyre has already shown he is willing to do anything to protect his title.

He hit Rhodes with a Claymore at the Royal Rumble and clearly doesn’t want him anywhere near the WrestleMania main event. If Rhodes wins the Chamber, he will be back in the title picture, and the WWE Champion doesn’t want that.

Even though the Chamber is surrounded by steel, outside interference is always possible. A surprise attack or a distraction could cost Rhodes the match.

3) Jacob Fatu ruins Cody Rhodes’ plans

Jacob Fatu is dangerous and intense, and looking to make a name for himself since he left The Bloodline. Recently, on SmackDown, he even interfered with Rhodes’ promo and tried to attack McIntyre. General Manager Nick Aldis had to calm him down and assure him of a match.

The Samoan Werewolf might actually appear in the Chamber match and ruin the night for Cody Rhodes.

Cody Rhodes may look like the favorite on paper, but the road to WrestleMania is never simple.
