Demolition Reveals How Long WWE Hall of Fame Induction Was In The Works

Demolition reveals the timeline of their WWE Hall of Fame induction.

On Monday, The Undertaker broke the news that Ax and Smash, together known as Demolition, would join the WWE Hall of Fame as a part of the 2026 class. According to the former WWE Tag Team Champions, they initially got word of their inductions two days before, when The Undertaker unexpectedly jumped into their Zoom call.

“We got notified Saturday,” Ax told Josh Edlow of The Edlow Show. “[WWE] called us for a Zoom call. They were showing us some new merchandise items that they’re bringing out. Then of all guys to break in, Undertaker broke in the Zoom call. He basically surprised us. It was very exciting.”

“I think what really started everything off was we signed the [Legends] contract a little over a year ago with the WWE again. We went to the last Hall of Fame and we watched it. Triple H being at the end, the head of the whole thing now, I think that’s kind of what got us into there. We’ve always got along great with everybody. But I think there was a little heat before, and now there’s not,” Smash added, referring to the pair’s past lawsuit against WWE. “We’re just excited to be with the WWE again.”

Demolition is ‘overwhelmed’ by the honor

When asked what their upcoming WWE Hall of Fame induction meant to them, Ax and Smash each indicated that it carried significant weight. For Ax, it’s also humbling.

“Well, it’s a little overwhelming to be honest with you,” he said. “I mean, we just got word of it the other day. It’s an honor because to be involved with something in our profession and be accepted in that fraternity with all the talent that’s in the hall, it’s humbling, to be real. There’s a great amount of talent there. And to be considered worthy to be in the hall is a very, very big thing for us.”

According to Smash, wrestling fans routinely asked them when Demolition was going to step into WWE’s Hall of Fame. Now, the pair have an answer.

“We go to a lot of signings almost every weekend. For years we’ve been doing this, and a lot of the fans keep saying, ‘When are you going to get in the Hall of Fame?’ You never know because there’s so many great tag teams,” Smash said. “They ask us, ‘Who’s your favorite tag team?’ Well, it’s so hard to say because they’re all of our favorites. We love it. So to all of a sudden get it inducted into this Hall of Fame is just a huge thing. We’re very excited about it.”
