WWE Planning A Record Number Of Women’s Matches At WrestleMania — Report

WWE WrestleMania 42 could feature more women’s matches than one might imagine.

With the completion of the 2026 Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber PLE’s, WWE has officially kick-started the road to WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. Five matches have been announced for the event so far, with two of them being women’s contests. It appears the promotion could give four more slots to the women’s division on the WrestleMania card.

According to WrestleVotes Radio (via Fightful Select), there is a heavy idea within the WWE creative team to have at least six women’s matches across the two nights of WrestleMania 42. They have heard that five out of the planned six contests are pretty firmly planned.

While the actual slate of matches wasn’t revealed, the report notes that it would set a WrestleMania record. WrestleMania 36 has the current record with five women’s contests on the card across both nights.

Cody Rhodes says WWE could have a sleeper emerge at WrestleMania 42

Speaking on Mostly Sports with Brandon Walker, former Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes shared his take on what many consider a slow build-up to WrestleMania 42. He noted that the road to the event looks unpredictable and that the event could surprise everyone once everything gets finalized.

He believes a “sleeper WrestleMania” is emerging, something that might not look flashy on paper, but could end up exceeding expectations.

“Enjoy the season. It’s unpredictable this year. I know there’s a little bit of impatience in general, what are the matches — it’s a Road To WrestleMania and I think what Triple H will — I think there’s a sleeper WrestleMania emerging if that makes any sense. Sometimes the tenures are very obvious, sometimes the big staple pieces like John Cena’s final [Mania match]. I think we’re sitting on a sleeper mania here,” the former Undisputed WWE Champion said.
