The road to WrestleMania 42 got more personal on the March 16, 2026 episode of WWE RAW as CM Punk and Roman Reigns closed the show with a heated segment that got out of control at the end.
Roman Reigns came out first and got a huge reaction from the crowd. The Tribal Chief spoke about his WrestleMania match and made it clear that he still sees himself as the top star in WWE.
Reigns then called out CM Punk and asked him to come to the ring. Punk didn’t waste any time and came out right away.
The WWE World Heavyweight Champion fired back at Reigns for calling him “Phil” and mocked him for it. He even referred to Samoa Joe while taking a jab at Reigns’ real name. The two went back and forth with personal shots.
CM Punk said he was already inside the Royal Rumble winner’s head before WrestleMania. Reigns didn’t seem bothered and kept calling him “Phil,” saying that Punk only got this big match because of him. Reigns made it clear that he sees himself as “the guy” and doesn’t think Punk is on his level.
Punk even acknowledged the treatment he got from The Usos last week on RAW, saying, “right message, wrong messenger.”
Roman Reigns Calls CM Punk ‘Old’ on WWE RAW
The argument kept getting more intense. Reigns brushed off Punk’s usual insults and even responded to the “part-timer” comments. He also mentioned AJ Lee and told Punk to learn from her what “top dollar players do.”
Punk didn’t back down. He even physically stopped Reigns from leaving the ring, saying it’s his show. He called Reigns “young boy” and said it was not the time to leave the ring. Punk then went on to make a Hulk Hogan reference and promised to beat Reigns at WrestleMania.
However, Reigns said something that really hit a nerve. He called Punk “old.”
“At the end of the day, this is the truth here, Phil. You’re not faster than me, you’re not stronger than me. You can’t do anything that I can do in this ring. You’re not better looking than me. You’re nothing to me. This you, that title on your waist, it’s an embarrassment. You are a try-hard that’s making us all look terrible, because at the end of the day, you are old!” Reigns said.
That was enough to set Punk off.
Punk immediately punched Reigns, knocking him down. General Manager Adam Pearce and security quickly ran in to break it up before it got worse.
Even while being pulled away, Punk kept shouting and looked furious. Reigns, on the other hand, stayed in the ring with a sarcastic smile, almost like he expected it to happen.
