New WWE Tag Team Champions Crowned on SmackDown

WWE SmackDown on March 20 delivered a major title shake-up at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina, as an unlikely duo challenged for the WWE Men’s Tag Team Championships — but the outcome didn’t come easy.

Damian Priest and Ron “the Truth” Killings stepped up against the reigning champions, MFTs (JC Mateo and Tama Tonga), in what marked only their third time teaming together.

While the pairing raised eyebrows, it quickly turned into a match that had more twists than a tag rope.

The champions controlled much of the early action, using quick tags and outside interference to keep Priest isolated.

Tama Tonga and JC Mateo leaned on teamwork — and a few well-timed distractions — to maintain the upper hand, while Solo Sikoa’s presence at ringside added another layer of chaos.

However, momentum shifted once R-Truth finally got the tag. He ran through his offense with shoulder blocks, a Blue Thunder Driver, and even paid tribute with a “You can’t see me” sequence into the Five Knuckle Shuffle — proving that sometimes, truth hurts… especially when it hits like a signature move.

The closing stretch turned into a full-blown ringside storm. Solo Sikoa interfered again, leading to a near-fall after Talla Tonga’s involvement.

Just as the numbers game threatened to tip things over, the Wyatt Sicks arrived without warning, evening the odds. Uncle Howdy attacked Sikoa with a Mandible Claw. JC Mateo fended off the attack, although his actions cleared the path for Priest and Truth to capitalize.

The challengers didn’t miss their cue. Priest neutralized Tama Tonga on the outside, while Truth delivered an Attitude Adjustment to JC Mateo for the pinfall — sealing the victory and crowning new champions.

With new champions crowned, SmackDown’s tag division now faces a fresh dynamic heading into the coming weeks.
