WWE is now stepping further into mainstream sports. The promotion is set to be part of MLB Opening Night, which will stream live on Netflix. As Netflix pushes to expand its live sports reach, this crossover is another event among many upcoming ones.
WWE has played a big role in this expansion. Since WWE and Netflix signed a deal in early 2025, all the episodes have been streaming on the platform. This has also helped WWE reach a newer audience globally.
The Usos Announced As Special Guests for MLB Opening Night on Netflix
On March 23, Netflix announced that the current World Tag Team Champions, Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso, will appear as special guests during the Opening Night game between the New York Yankees and the San Francisco Giants. The game will take place on March 25 and will be the first MLB match ever streamed on Netflix. The pre-show starts at 7 PM ET.
However, it is still not revealed what The Usos will do during the broadcast. Nevertheless, their presence will definitely attract some WWE viewers. Since the twins were born in San Francisco, they have a natural link to the Giants, which makes their appearance even more interesting. Other guests, including NFL quarterback Jameis Winston, also join them.
It’s all a part of Netflix’s bigger plan to become a major player in live sports. Over the past year, the platform has secured marquee events like the fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson and the major boxing match featuring Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford. Netflix is also moving into MMA with an upcoming fight between Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, along with former UFC heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou vs Philipe Lins.
From a business point of view, this move makes sense. Netflix now has rights to big MLB events like Opening Night, the Home Run Derby, and the Field of Dreams Game. Bringing in some popular names like The Usos helps attract more viewers, not just baseball fans.
