WWE’s Paul Heyman made some serious arguments to claim that the late Bobby Heenan is not in his league.
Paul Heyman recently spoke to VGC’s Chris Scullion to promote WWE 2K26. The conversation began with Scullion noting that he calls Heyman “one of the greatest managers” in pro wrestling history simply out of respect for the late Bobby Heenan. However, Heyman, in character, laid into the host by providing facts stating that Heenan, who’s known for managing over 40 wrestlers (collectively called the Heenan Family) across different promotions, is not in his league.
“He’s dead. What’s he gonna do? Come back and haunt you because you told the truth that he’s no longer the greatest? Let’s have this debate right now. I’m so sick of hearing that name,” Paul Heyman said. “How many champions has Bobby Heenan managed? You can count them on one hand. Can’t count mine on one. You can barely count them on two.”
Paul Heyman said he’s managed more WrestleMania main eventers than anyone in WWE history
“How many WrestleMania main events was he in? The only person that’s been in more WrestleMania main events than me is Roman Reigns,” Paul Heyman claimed. “If you want to just say, ‘Well, that doesn’t count because you’re a manager, an advocate, a wiseman, an oracle,’ okay, so let’s put it this way. I’m in people’s corners in WrestleMania. The number is 10.
“Do you know who’s in second place? Stephanie McMahon. You know what number she’s at? Three. Please tell me how anybody measures up to my accomplishments. Where in the world can you say that Bobby Heenan is even in my league anymore? I’ve managed more champions, and I hate the word managed, but we’ll use it for contextual purposes,” Paul Heyman said.
“I’ve managed more champions for a longer period of time and a longer period of time within their title reigns than anybody else in history. No one even comes close. They’re not even in the same universe as me. So you genuflecting respect upon someone that is dead, and two, whose numbers don’t match mine, is like saying that your next-door neighbor who just hit the million-dollar lottery is in the same league as Elon Musk. They’re not, and Bobby Heenan’s not in mine either,” Paul Heyman said.
