Becky Lynch heard the chatter, and she actually agrees with it.
Lynch appeared on a new episode of Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg and addressed the criticism that she’s holding younger WWE talent back. Lynch leaned into her heel gimmick and embraced the idea, claiming that she is holding WWE talent back on purpose, comparing it to a learning experience.
“I absolutely am holding them down,” Lynch said (via SEScoops). “This is what it’s like to be held down by the man. Let’s see if you can rise against it. If you can rise against it, good on you. Then you deserve to be on top. But you won’t, because I’m still the greatest of all time. I will hold them down and I will keep them down because they don’t deserve to be in my spot. This is a competitive business. I have a child to feed.”

Becky Lynch then pointed out how “part-time” talent like Roman Reigns gets cheered when he shows up, but she’s torn down despite trying to help others by being around all the time.
“I’m around all the time. All the time,” she continued. “Making the towns, getting in the ring with everybody, helping them, sacrificing yourself, showing them what it’s like to be great, so they can see and go, ‘Oh, that’s how great I want to be.’ And they want me to not be great.”
Lynch will challenge AJ Lee for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 42 on April 18-19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Lynch lost the title to Lee at Elimination Chamber last month, but secured a rematch on last week’s episode of WWE RAW.
