Trick Williams wants to see a WWE SmackDown star have his WrestleMania moment.
On last week’s episode of SmackDown, General Manager Nick Aldis awarded Trick Williams a spot on the WrestleMania 42 card, saying he got the opportunity based on fan support. The opportunity turned into a title match after he inadvertently helped Sami Zayn defeat Carmelo Hayes for the United States Championship.
Trick Williams will now face Sami Zayn for the US Title at WrestleMania 42. However, fans complained that WWE took away Carmelo Hayes’ spot in the PLE despite him doing a good job as the champion for 98 days. Now, speaking on Mornings with Mero on HOT 97, Williams, who has worked with Hayes in NXT, noted that he deserves his spot in the WrestleMania 42 card, and teased he might still get it.
“Me and Melo, we go way back, of course, and I would love to see him get his moment and he deserves that and you never know, he probably still will. He carried that U.S. Title great, so he deserves his moment. I’m sure he’s going to get his moment,” Trick Williams said. [H/T SI.com]
Trick Williams is grateful more black WWE superstars are getting opportunities now
During his recent appearance on The Ebro, Laura, and Rosenberg Show, Trick Williams discussed the opportunities that Black wrestlers have today compared to previous generations.
“I’m grateful. [Rosenberg] just said how myself, Je’Von, and Oba Femi should all three have a match at WrestleMania as rookies. I don’t think you could say that ever in WWE history.” Trick Williams said.
“If I’m not mistaken, it’s been a while since a single Black talent superstar has had a one-on-one match during WrestleMania, period. It’s a lot of tag teams.”
“Whatever the scenario is. It’s not shade to all the brothers who have been doing it before me because they are so talent and I’ve learned from a lot of them. I’m just saying how grateful I am for this moment of time to get the ball,” Trick Williams said. [H/T: Fightful]
