Vince McMahon’s return at WWE WrestleMania 42 has been a huge topic of speculation. Will it actually happen? Two notable names who worked for the company aren’t sold on it.
Road Dogg and Billy Gunn recently took part in a live autograph signing, where they were asked about the chances of McMahon appearing at WrestleMania. McMahon was effectively scrubbed from WWE programming after he left due to the ongoing sexual assault lawsuit he’s involved in. However, he’s been mentioned in passing a few times in the years since.
Monday’s episode of RAW featured a more direct reference, as Cody Rhodes told Stephanie McMahon that she was not her father. Many fans believe that this could potentially open the door for an appearance by McMahon, but it’s still speculation.
Road Dogg, who recently left his role in WWE creative, opted to keep his answer short, while Billy Gunn, who currently works for AEW, explained why he doesn’t see it happening right now.
Billy Gunn doesn’t see Vince McMahon showing up at WrestleMania
Road Dogg: “I have no idea.”
Billy Gunn: “Oh! That sounded a little like insider! Ohh…”
Road Dogg: [Responding to someone who said that he smiled.] “Y’all are making me smile.”
Billy Gunn: “I find that hard. Like I don’t—I don’t find that hard, but I don’t think it’s [going to happen now]. They’re too ‘businessy’ for that right now. And I still that that’s—yes that’s it [it’s too fresh].”
Tommy Dreamer said if Vince McMahon did show up, he would get an insane reaction in Las Vegas. However, the cheers or boos might also depend on who he aligned himself with in the Cody Rhodes versus Randy Orton feud.
