Ari Emanuel has become one of the most important figures in WWE today, but his role is very different. He does not run creative directly, but he still has influence in big ways.
Emanuel built his career in Hollywood before entering the wrestling world. He founded Endeavor and worked with major stars like The Rock, Mark Wahlberg and more big names. In 2023, his company bought WWE for $9.3 billion.
That deal changed everything, and for the first time, Vince McMahon was no longer in control. Soon after, WWE merged with UFC to form TKO Group Holdings, with Ari Emanuel becoming the CEO and executive chairman.
Vince McMahon initially stayed involved. However, in 2024, he stepped away following serious allegations, leaving Ari Emanuel with even more control at the top. Emanuel had already been overseeing the UFC through Endeavor after buying out Zuffa’s shares in 2021.
This put Emanuel in charge of both the biggest MMA company and the biggest pro wrestling company at the same time. He also stayed honest about future plans, which were to focus on what TKO already has.
Early on, fans barely felt TKO’s presence. Triple H ran creative. Cody Rhodes chased Roman Reigns and the Bloodline. WWE and UFC’s business boomed. Then things slowly started to change.
Corporate sponsors moved in. Logos started covering the ring mats, and just like that, WWE and UFC ticket prices climbed higher. And just like the TKO’s influence grew in both companies.
How TKO Influences WWE Creative Decisions
Even with that power, TKO does not control WWE’s daily creative work. Triple H still leads that side, as he handles storylines, matches, and weekly shows. That part remains mostly the same. However, TKO influences the bigger picture.
The company focuses on business-driven decisions. These include major story directions, partnerships, and celebrity involvement. They step in when something needs to feel bigger and more mainstream.
For example, TKO has helped bring in names like Pat McAfee and Travis Scott. These appearances attract attention beyond wrestling. They help WWE reach new audiences. TKO also impacts how WWE looks and operates, as the sponsorships are more visible now and the branding appears across shows more often.
Ticket prices have also increased under this system. These changes come from the business side. At times, they have influenced major storylines in the past few years. In simple terms, Emanuel does not book matches or write promos.
But he shapes the overall direction of WWE. He focuses on growth. On business. And that still affects what fans see on screen.
Emanuel is reportedly the one behind celebrity involvement in major WrestleMania storylines the past three years. According to reports, he influenced The Rock’s involvement in WrestleMania 41, as well as Travis Scott’s inclusion at WrestleMania 41. CM Punk even teased that Emanuel was the one who brought Pat McAfee into the fold for WrestleMania 42.
