Kit Wilson recently surprised fans by praising Jelly Roll, even as backlash around his WWE appearances continues. Even after everything that happened between them.
Last month, Wilson and Jelly Roll were involved in a short rivalry on WWE SmackDown. It started with a war of words. Wilson, part of Pretty Deadly, mocked Jelly Roll’s look and attitude. Things quickly escalated. The two faced each other in a match on March 27. Jelly Roll picked up the win with a chokeslam.
Fans noticed Jelly Roll’s effort inside the ring. He impressed a lot of people. But a big section of the WWE fanbase still feels unhappy about how much screen time he gets. That same SmackDown episode made things more interesting.
Randy Orton hit an RKO on Jelly Roll during a chaotic brawl with Cody Rhodes. Fans cheered loudly not for Jelly Roll but for Orton. Many fans felt the show gave Jelly Roll too much focus. That attention pulled viewers away from the main storylines. So when Orton hit that RKO, the fans in the arena exploded.
Despite all that, Kit Wilson chose a different approach. He broke character and spoke honestly about Jelly Roll.
Kit Wilson praises Jelly Roll amid backlash over WWE involvement
Speaking on the Complex Graps Wrestling Podcast, Kit Wilson didn’t hold back and shared his thoughts on Jelly Roll. He said, “I grew up a lifelong fan of this product, and I have seen and watched countless celebrities come in. And I think you can tell, as a viewer and as a fan and someone who loves this, whether that celebrity that’s come in knows what they’re talking about. We know whether they love it or not.”
He continued, “And Jelly Roll, love him or hate him, he loves this. He is putting everything he can into this. He has lost hundreds of pounds. He’s working hard in the gym. He’s working hard with his team. This man is a massive celebrity. He doesn’t need to be here. But he’s here because he wants to contribute in a positive way. And for me, as a WWE Superstar, I can’t help but respect that.”
Even after losing to him, Wilson gave credit where it was due. He looked past the storyline. And focused on the effort behind it. Jelly Roll did all of that because he genuinely cares about WWE and his rival Wilson sees that.
