Rhea Ripley sets the record straight on her rumored sneaker deal.
WWE star Rhea Ripley is no stranger to rumors, some of which turn out to be true, while others are false. While going sneaker shopping with Complex, Ripley addressed one of them she wishes were true.
Last year, chatter circulated of an endorsement deal, allegedly worth $30 million, that would have seen as Ripley as the face of a new Air Jordan campaign. Air Jordan, of course, is a famous sneaker line produced by Nike and associated with basketball legend Michael Jordan. With that in mind, Ripley expressed hope for that rumor to come to fruition in the future. For right now, though, it remains a piece of fake news.
“I wish it wasn’t [fake],” Ripley said. “Dude, that’s wild that people were commenting that [they want to buy their first pair of Jordans because of Rhea Ripley]. Jordans is a massive brand. They’ve been around for so long and they have so many different styles. To say that it might be the first pair you buy because it’s a ‘Mami’ Rhea Ripley pair is insane. So Michael Jordan, come on. Come through.”
When asked about another potential shoe deal, specifically with Vans, Ripley revealed that she previously reached out to the brand, though to no response.
“I’d love to do a Vans deal, for sure,” she said. “Since they are the shoe that I wear every single day, I would love to do a Vans deal. And I remember when I first started in WWE, my name started getting a little bit bigger. I remember I messaged them ages ago. They never got back to me. I slid into their DMs and they didn’t respond.”
