A WWE fan who had his phone slapped away by CM Punk wants an apology from the WWE star.
Earlier this week, CM Punk got into an altercation with a fan and smacked his phone out of his hand after WWE WrestleMania 42. The incident took place in the WWE talent hotel in Las Vegas after Punk lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns.
After the event, CM Punk got into an altercation with a fan in the hotel lobby just after midnight on Monday. Video footage posted by TMZ Sports captured Punk slapping the phone out of the fan’s hand, which happened after the fan filmed Bayley hugging AJ Lee. Another fan who witnessed the incident said Punk stepped in after the first fan tried to put his arm around AJ for a selfie, even though his request was turned down.
New footage shows what happened before CM Punk stepped in
TMZ released new footage from the fan’s phone before CM Punk slapped it away. Video shows the man trying to follow Bayley and AJ, but Bayley tells him to go away. Punk then steps in before security and Ace Steel get in between the two.
TMZ also reported that the fan, who wishes to remain anonymous, is not looking to sue or press charges on Punk. He understands that Punk was probably in a bad mood after losing at WrestleMania, but he’s just asking for an apology.
“I want an apology — shake my hand — I’m not gonna sue him or put him in jail,” he told TMZ. “I just want an apology.”
CM Punk has been very vocal about fans having boundaries with talent in the past, and it seems like he didn’t appreciate fans swarming his wife and friend at their hotel. This was just one of several reported incidents at the WWE talent hotel this weekend, as PWInsider.com reported that Damian Priest had to help a female WWE star get away from a group of fans.
The outlet noted there were several similar instances, including one situation where a referee was nearly trampled by a group of fans stationed in the hotel. According to PWInsider, the lack of security at the hotel was a topic of conversation throughout the weekend.
