Adam Copeland has raised the stakes by putting his famous tag team partnership with Christian Cage on the line. He wants one more shot at winning tag team gold in AEW, and he is ready to trade their retirement for it.
That’s a huge deal. Copeland and Cage are one of the most famous tag teams ever. Known in the past as Edge & Christian in WWE, they reunited last year after many years apart. Fans loved seeing them back together, and they have proven they still work great as a team.
Now, all of that could end in one match.
Adam Copeland puts tag team with Christian Cage on the line at Double or Nothing
On the April 22 episode of AEW Dynamite, Copeland cut a promo from a storage room. He talked about their recent loss to FTR at AEW Dynasty. Even though they lost, Copeland made it clear that he and Cage are not done yet.
FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) believe they have already beaten everyone in the division. They said they don’t see a reason to give Copeland and Cage another match. With advice from Stokely Hathaway, they even suggested that Tony Khan should look at other promotions for new challengers.
But Copeland didn’t agree with that.
He came up with a bold idea to challenge FTR directly. He proposed a New York Street Fight for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at AEW Double or Nothing. This type of match means no rules, no disqualifications, and a lot of chaos.
Then came the big stake. If Copeland and Cage lose, they will never team together again.
Copeland also played mind games in his promo. He hinted that if FTR refuses the match, it would mean they are scared or think Copeland and Cage are the better team.
Both teams have one win each, so this would be the deciding match.
