Motor City Machine Guns Among Latest WWE Releases — REPORT

A new round of WWE releases in April 2026 has seen several names leave the company. The exit of the Motor City Machine Guns has made quite a buzz.

WWE hasn’t made an official statement yet. Some of these exits might be due to contracts ending, not necessarily releases. Still, losing the Motor City Machine Guns is a significant change for WWE’s tag team division.

Motor City Machine Guns reportedly part of WWE releases

According to Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful Select, both Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are believed to be among the latest to leave.

Motor City Machine Guns joined WWE in October 2024 with a lot of hype. They had already built a strong reputation in TNA, ROH, and NJPW. Even though their WWE run lasted less than two years, they made a decisive impact, mainly on SmackDown.

Just one week after debuting, they won the WWE Tag Team Championship by defeating Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. Motor City Machine Guns are also the first team to win major titles across multiple top promotions.

But after that strong start, things slowed down. They were involved in a few feuds, including matches with #DIY and even some connection to the Wyatt Sicks storyline, but they were rarely the main focus. They were also included in the WWE 2K25 “New Wave” DLC, but on TV, their momentum faded. After losing their titles, they didn’t become part of important storylines.

Their departure seemingly indicates the tag team division of WWE is set for a big overhaul. The entirety of the Wyatt Sicks has also reportedly left. Other reported exits include Zoey Stark, Alba Fyre, Andre Chase, Aleicester Black, Zelina Vega, and NXT and WWE EVOLE star Dante Chen, etc., showing that WWE is making bigger changes across the roster.
