WWE is updating its roster list after WrestleMania 42, and among many of the releases is the name of former Women’s United States Champion Zelina Vega as well. However, unlike many would expect, Vega recently revealed that she got the release call directly from TKO.
WWE has reportedly released many popular names. The Wyatt Sicks and Motor City Machine Guns are gone. Other names like Zoey Stark, Alba Fyre, and Andre Chase have also been mentioned, showing this is a big roster reset.
Zelina Vega says her WWE release call showed TKO instead of Stamford
Zelina Vega recently shared how she found out about her release. She said the call didn’t come from WWE’s usual Stamford office; it came directly from TKO Group Holdings.
Speaking on a Twitch livestream, Vega explained what happened on April 24, 2026. She said she knew something felt different as soon as her phone rang.
“When people call me, it would usually say Stamford calling you, and that’s when your heart’s like, ‘Oh f*ck.’ But this time it said TKO, so I was like, ‘Ah, very telling.’ 5:09 PM is when I found out. So, yeah, that is the thing,” Vega said.
Vega also vented out the frustration of not being able to deliver the exit news herself.
“I was so shocked. But yeah, I also would have appreciated if Sean Ross Sapp or whoever the f*ck announced it could have at least given me the decency to like let me do it myself first. But, f*ck you, dude,” Vega added.
Vega was earlier released because of WWE’s dispute over third-party platform usage. However, she returned in 2021, and her second run was stellar. She even won the Women’s United States Championship in April 2025 and had a resurgent 63-day title run. Later, she turned heel alongside her husband, Aleister Black. But her character became stagnant by then.
Black has also reportedly been removed from the WWE roster.
