Zelina Vega may be away from WWE programming for now, but she’s already stepping into a brand-new spotlight following her recent release from the company.
Less than a month after being part of WWE’s post-WrestleMania roster cuts, Vega revealed that her next chapter is already rolling cameras.
The former Women’s United States Champion shared the update on Instagram, giving fans a glimpse at her latest project while also hinting that she’s wasting no time rebuilding momentum outside the ring.
While many released talents spend months waiting for their next opportunity, Vega appears to have already her next script locked in.

Vega, whose real name is Thea Trinidad, confirmed that she landed a role in an upcoming movie titled Renew. The film reportedly features actor Theo Rossi and is connected to writer and director Tommy DeNucci.
Alongside behind-the-scenes photos from filming, Vega posted the caption: “Loveddd linking up back up with my homieee @tomdenucci an incredible writer and director that I always have a blast with on set ? can’t wait for you guys to see the movie! #ReNew thanks for the pics @brag.about_it”.
The announcement came just weeks after WWE released Vega on April 24, 2026. She was part of a larger wave of talent cuts that also included her husband Aleister Black, Kairi Sane, and Santos Escobar.
Vega later revealed on Twitch that the call came directly from TKO Group Holdings rather than WWE’s Stamford offices.
This isn’t Vega’s first role outside the squared circle. Wrestling fans may remember her portrayal of AJ Lee in Fighting with My Family, the 2019 Paige biopic produced by Dwayne Johnson. She has also appeared in films including Dorothy and the Witches of Oz and Army of the Damned.
Although Vega’s in-ring future remains unclear due to a likely non-compete period, she’s already proving her career isn’t on the ropes. For now, the former WWE star appears ready to trade the entrance ramp for the red carpet.
