WWE NXT Star Debuts Dramatic New Look (Photos)

Zena Sterling has joined the dark side.

Once describing her wrestling persona as a “feral Disney Princess,” WWE star Zena Sterling has seemingly morphed it into something much darker. Fans in attendance for the April 28 edition of WWE NXT got a first-hand look at Sterling’s new look when she took on former NXT Women’s North American Champion Thea Hail in a pre-show dark match.

Weeks ago, Sterling revealed that she chopped off much of her blonde hair in order to transform it into a bob. For her match against Hail, Sterling took it one step further by slicking it back. Sterling also traded in her usual bright-colored gear for an all-black ensemble, combat boots and all.

“Trust.. you’ll never know Zena’s next move,” she wrote on X alongside a professional photo of her new look.

Sterling, the first Ukrainian athlete signed by the WWE, made her pro wrestling debut in a Halloween-themed Rumble match at an NXT live event in October 2023. In 2025, she joined the cast of WWE LFG, where the winners would be awarded with contracts to the WWE NXT brand.

Sterling emerged as the female runner-up that season, with WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley as her coach. She returned for season two again as a part of Team Dudley. Skylar Raye (aka Dani Sekelsky) won ultimately season two within the women’s division.

Prior to signing with WWE, Sterling competed as a swimmer and bodybuilder. As of this writing, she has yet to wrestle on NXT television. WWE fans have, however, seen her on EVOVLE, which airs on Wednesdays on Tubi.
