WWE Boosts Creative Team with Emmy-Nominated Show Director Hire

WWE has brought in an Emmy-nominated talent as its new Director of Show Production and Design.

Hunter Selby, who has been recognized for his work on shows like Saturday Night Live and American Idol, shared the update on his Instagram.

“I’m excited to share that I’ve accepted a new position as Director of Show Production and Design at WWE. I’m looking forward to this new chapter, and to working on some designs that will hopefully be debuting on screens soon!”

Selby has received multiple Emmy nominations for his work in lighting design. In 2023, he was nominated for Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Series for American Idol. In 2025, he earned two more nominations: one for Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Special for SNL50: The Homecoming Concert, and another for Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for American Idol.

According to his IMDb page, Selby has worked as a senior associate lighting designer on the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special and A Grammy Salute to Cyndi Lauper: Live from the Hollywood Bowl. He also served as the lighting director for a critically acclaimed Formula 1 television series.
