WWE Unreal has been nominated for three Sports Emmy Awards.

The Netflix docuseries takes viewers behind the scenes in WWE, showing how the promotion plans and executes the storylines and matches. The company announced on X/Twitter earlier today that WWE Unreal is nominated for Outstanding Sports Documentary Series: Serialized, Outstanding Sports Editing: Long Form, and Outstanding Sports Graphic Design: Specialty.

Chief Content Officer, Triple H, commented on the nominations, saying, ” WWE: Unreal’s nomination for three Sports Emmys is a testament to the work and dedication of every single individual @WWE whose work makes us run. Also, a massive thank you to our partners who helped bring this show to life and congratulations to all involved in the show and its production.

Netflix has released two seasons of WWE Unreal so far, with a third season set for release later this summer.

John Cena apologizes for being against WWE: Unreal and confirms season 3 role

During his recent appearance on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, John Cena, who retired from in-ring competition last December, revealed that he apologized for refusing to be a part of the first two seasons of WWE Unreal and confirmed his role in season three.

“I just did a sit-down for WWE: Unreal season three. I led with, ‘I’m sorry,’” Cena explained. “Because those motherf*ckers tried to get me for season one and season two, and I’m like, ‘I’m not spoiling any stories and I’m going to be curt and short in my answers.’ [I told the producers] ‘You guys are from football, this is a business that’s way more nuanced. You don’t know what you’re doing. You’re taking a swing and the institutional knowledge that I have says we never do this.’ So you’re going against everything I believe in.”

While he didn’t reveal what he filmed for season three, it could likely highlight his WWE retirement tour.
