Grandmas Have Wholesome Reunion With Wrestler After Chance Las Vegas Encounter

An independent wrestler recently experienced a heartwarming reunion with a group of elderly women he first met on a flight to Las Vegas.

DeReiss Gordon, also known as Man Like DeReiss, was traveling to Las Vegas for WrestleMania week when he discovered he had been seated incorrectly. His seat belonged to one of four women in a group: Lynn Crawford, 71; Susie Matthews, 73; Rose Sulley, 74; and Christine Goodwin, 80.

The women, who have been close friends for more than 40 years, were flying from London Heathrow to Las Vegas to scatter the ashes of Rose’s late husband, Pete. They were accompanied by Rose’s daughter and her partner, who had mistakenly arranged the seating.

DeReiss recalled that the group was initially frustrated but quickly calmed down once the situation was explained. During the interaction, Susie learned that he was a professional wrestler heading to WrestleMania week, which sparked their curiosity.

While in Las Vegas, Rose and her daughter fulfilled their plan by scattering Pete’s ashes at the MGM Hotel. The following day, the group honored their promise to DeReiss by attending a wrestling event.

First-time wrestling experience leaves lasting impression

Susie admitted the experience was completely new to them.

“We didn’t know what was going on,” Susie told BBC. “We were all dressed up like Sex and the City, and there were thousands of people walking around with long beards down to their bellies and baseball caps… and there’s us, all dolled up.

“We were watching it and we were traumatised. We were like, ‘what on earth is going on here?’ They were flying out of the ring.”

DeReiss later recalled being stunned when someone informed him that the women had actually come to the show.

Susie said the group took photos with him and gave him a “big cwtch” before returning to their seats.

“It was such a lovely moment,” she said. “We promised we’d go, and we did.”

Despite having grandchildren who are wrestling fans, it was the group’s first time attending a live event.

“It was the best day, we absolutely loved it,” Susie added. “It made it even more special that we kept our promise, and he was so happy to see us.”
